While chiefly focused on the natural resources and property sectors, the Transcontinental Group has invested and will continue to invest in and establish strong businesses outside these areas.

Key examples include:

• Aqua Vital – TRG was instrumental in establishing the Aqua Vital table water business, as an early aggregator of the then-fragmented bottled water market. The business was grown exponentially and ultimately sold, and is now part of Coca Cola’s bottled water business.
• Atlas Pearls – TRG’s investment in Atlas South Sea Pearl assisted the company in establishing its operations in Indonesia. Today, the now-named Atlas Pearls and Perfumes is a global leader in eco-pearling, and one of the top producers of the highly sought after silver and white South Sea pearl, with five pearl farms extending through the Indonesian archipelago to West Papua.
• Cable Television Services Ltd – TRG invested in the establishment of Cable Television Services Ltd, a company which was granted some of Australia’s first paid television licences (now owned by Foxtel).
• Australian Healthcare Technology Ltd – founded by TRG, AHTL provided practice management and electronic health record technologies to the Australian market.

AAT Research Limited

A major ongoing and active investment for TRG is AAT Research Limited, a Malta-based neuroscience company founded by Dr Adrian Attard Trevisan.

AAT Research is dedicated to researching and producing cutting-edge medical technologies offering patients the chance of leading a better life. With a particular focus on neurological conditions, the company’s objective is to use its research and development (R&D) skills and experience to inform and provide a unique and innovative academic industrial approach.

AAT Research has successfully developed and commercialised its first product, Mente™ – an award-winning EEG device using neurofeedback technology to help relax the minds of children with autism, enabling them to focus better and engage positively with their environment.

Mente™ is FDA registered and holds CE Medical certification. In people with autism, the delta brainwaves – which are associated with sleep and closed eyes – peak constantly, even when they are awake, isolating them in their own world. Mente™ uses an auditory system to suppress these waves.

AAT Research has a number of other portable and wearable neurofeedback devices in the pipeline, including an advanced epilepsy prediction system.

Headed by an able and experienced leadership team, AAT Research comprises scientists, engineers, researchers, designers and other specialists. The company collaborates on research and clinical projects with a number of universities, research organisations and medical centres, as well as with charitable foundations and NGOs, with the primary goal of developing medical solutions that enhance the lives of those with neurologically-based conditions.

TRG was a major early investor in AAT Research, and continues to provide significant management and commercial support to assist with the company’s rapid growth.
